After the women’s infamous capsize in February 2012 due to the broken bow in Pascal, we desperately needed money to fix the boat back into shape for May Bumps. We organized a fundraiser on the Saturday, the last day of May Bumps, to gain money for the boat. With the large generosity of Steve and Brenda Austin, we were given permission to organize a fundraiser on their property, the so-called “Bumps lodge” that lies right ahead of the infamous Grassy Corner. With the organization of Iva, Laura, and Kate, and the help of the rest of the rowing club, we set up a marquee for guests and organized food, drinks, and entertainment for the day. We sold over 100 tickets to our event, and our guests had exclusive access to watch the last day of May Bumps. The event was a huge success!
Below are photos of our event and photos of Darwin crews racing (and bumping!) right in front of the marquee!
